          Received official notice of discharge of Matthew Taisey -- T. I. Hopkins, mortally wounded in mouth in Battle near Nolonville Gilbert Gaslin left in Hospital -- sent to Nashville --

Battery Muster Roll

          Broke camp in the morning (?) for Murfreesboro marching toward Nolonsville when we met the enemy in considerable force about (?) . A sharp skirmish ensued when he was driven back two miles to Knob Gap where he made a determined stand with 8 pieces of artillery supported by a heavy force of dismounted cavalry. After a sharp engagement in which my battery participated with good effect the Rebels retreated hastily leaving one piece and five horses in possession of Carlin’s Brigade.
