Apothecary
Battery reenactors support their hobby by having real 21st century jobs and professions. The Second Battery is fortunate to have in its membership, a pharmacist who has studied modern medicine and how it connects to the past. In camp, “Miss Mandy” portrays an apothecary, a pharmacist of the 1800s, bringing her pill roller, herbs, tonics, leeches and history of medicines to “cure” whatever might be “ailing” a soldier. This fascinating display and interpretation is available when “Miss Mandy” is in attendance—the Battery only has one pharmacist!
