Delphic Oracle
Women were very creative in how they worked to raise funds to support the troops, holding fairs with many booths and attractions, much like state or county fairs today. One of these attractions was the Delphic Oracle, which featured a fortune telling wheel with fortunes much like those found in fortune cookies today. With its use of Zodiac symbols, patriotic decorations, and a mascot stuffed owl, it was designed to be a fun, interactive way of engaging visitors, just as the ladies of the Second Battery do today.
